PRODUCT CARE

Webb & Hide products are crafted from premium full-grain leather — primarily Horween Dublin — a vegetable re-tanned leather designed to age, darken, and develop rich character over time. With proper care, your piece will last for many years and only improve with use.

Understanding Horween Dublin Leather

Horween Dublin is a waxed, vegetable re-tanned leather infused with natural oils and greases. It is designed to:

• Develop a deep, rich patina

• Darken slightly with handling and exposure to light

• Show natural markings and character

• Soften and mold to your use over time

These changes are normal and expected and are part of what makes full-grain leather unique.

Daily Care

Leather requires very little maintenance. In most cases:

• Simply use and enjoy your item

• Handle regularly — natural oils from your hands help condition the leather

• Wipe gently with a clean, dry cloth if dust or dirt appears

Avoid over-handling with dirty or oily hands.

Conditioning

Horween Dublin leather is heavily nourished during tanning and typically does not require frequent conditioning.

If the leather begins to feel dry after extended use:

• Apply a very small amount of Obenauf’s Heavy Duty LP using a soft cloth

• Use sparingly — this product is rich and over-application may darken and overly soften the leather

• Work it in lightly and allow it to absorb naturally

• Buff gently with a clean cloth if needed

Condition only when necessary — not on a schedule. Proper use will help maintain durability, water resistance, and long-term performance.

Water & Moisture

Leather is naturally resistant but not waterproof.

If your item becomes wet:

• Blot gently with a dry cloth (do not rub)

• Allow to air dry at room temperature

• Do NOT use heat, dryers, or direct sunlight

Water exposure may slightly darken the leather — this is normal.

Scratches & Marks

Full-grain leather may show marks or scuffs during use. Most minor marks can be reduced by:

• Gently rubbing the area with clean fingers

• Allowing natural oils and time to blend the surface

Marks and wear are part of leather’s natural aging and contribute to its character.

Storage

If storing your item for extended periods:

• Keep in a cool, dry place

• Avoid sealed plastic containers (leather must breathe)

• Avoid prolonged direct sunlight

What to Avoid

To protect your leather, avoid:

• Excessive water exposure

• Harsh chemicals or cleaners

• Alcohol-based products

• Over-conditioning

• Prolonged extreme heat

Natural Aging & Patina

Horween Dublin leather is designed to evolve. Over time, your piece will:

• Darken slightly

• Soften and form to your use

• Develop a rich patina unique to you

This natural aging is a hallmark of genuine full-grain leather and is not considered a defect.
